Happy Halloween! To honor the thirty-first day of October, we've brought you a cute Halloween name that can feel soft and fuzzy or thrillingly scary - it's your pick! Batt is, of course, inspired by one of the most popular Halloween theme animals: the winged, pointy-eared, tiny-fanged bat. You can take this name as far as you like to achieve the perfect feel of the way you celebrate Halloween.

This delightful name may make you think of Merlin... which may bring to mind witches and wizards... which, on October 30th, is redolent of nothing other than Halloween! Merlie is perfect for anyone born in the spooky month of October, without the dark, sinister quality often seen in names associated with Halloween.

X names are rare. That's what makes Xio eXcel. This flashy name is sure to turn heads, whether it's used on its own, or as a nickname for the Spanish Xiomar or Xiomara, which both mean "famous in battle." You can feel the courage, individuality, and daring of this name, making it a favorite for the future.
Variations: Io, Zio

Payson

This name is a modern approach to Payton (or Peyton). All of these names have a common quality of consistency: you can count on them to stand strong and true, even in the capricious yearly name trends that toss and turn like a maelstrom in the sea. Payson's quaint charm, combined with its casual novelty, means it will never be out of place; whether in a modern or classic world of names.

Poplar

Named after the tree, this unique name should be much more poplar  than it is. Compared to other tree names, like Maple and Willow, it's not very common. Poplar is a genus of many unique tree species, including aspens and cottonwoods, common in a variety of places throughout the Northern hemisphere. For any tree lovers, this name brings a lot of North America's most treasured species to life!

Kir

Another frosty fall K name, Kir may be recognized as the original name of the main character (Kira) from the book Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. One thing that name fans may remember about Gathering Blue is Lowry's creative scenario in the dystopian society: where everyone is given a one-syllable name at birth and gains syllables as they age. Kir is a good way to shorten Kira (or Keer with Keera; see past archives on this blog), and make it much more unique.

Kytel

This is one of those styles of unique names that really doesn't closely resemble any common name. Once you get past the pleasant surprise of its eccentricity, you'll realize that Kytel should be among the stars of the name world. When you consider its bird-like letter combination that's just pleading to take flight - its clicky K; the syncopated flow of the name - you'll wonder if, by using this name, you'll start a whole new trend.

Harpre

Like Harper, but a tad more sophisticated, Harpre is a name suited for autumn. Its Har- beginning, like in the words "hardy" or "hardworking," matches the diligent efforts of animals and plants alike to get ready for the approaching winter. Its other half, the dainty -pre ending, represents the  intricate coats of frost quietly appearing as the air gets chillier. Use this name for any fall birthdays!

You can personalize this name: Raighnor, Reynor, and Reinor all sound just as regal as the original. Raynor sounds like the Spanish rei, meaning king, and the -nor ending gives it the dynamic flair of any top name. This name is a mix of the tranquility and poise of the fall season: like the velvety quality of autumn leaves, or fresh dew on gold tree bark.

Fairday

Fairday is a tranquil, thoughtful name that reflects the sun peeking out, warming a frosty October day. It's one of those special names that have a straightforward meaning in English - while still sounding like a normal name. If you're a fan of electromagnetism, Fairday can also be adapted as Faraday, which was the last name of a famous chemist/physicist who lived in the 19th century.
